Murray and Lendl end partnership

The pair began working together at the beginning of the 2012 season and after years of near misses, the Czech was credited with helping the 26-year-old develop the mental strength required to win the sport's biggest events as he guided him to both Olympic gold and US Open glory in their first season together.




 Murray's career continued to thrive in 2013, with him becoming the first British male to win Wimbledon since 1936, defeating Novak Djokovic in straight sets in the final.

However, he has struggled to reach those heights over the last few months, failing to win a tournament so far this year after undergoing back surgery last September. Following his exit in the fourth round of last week's event at Indian Wells, the pair have now decided to split amicably and Murray has thanked his former mentor for the huge impact he had had on his career.

"I'm eternally grateful to Ivan for all his hard work over the past two years, the most successful of my career so far," he is quoted as saying on his official website. "As a team, we've learned a lot and it will definitely be of benefit in the future. I'll take some time with the team to consider the next steps and how we progress from here."
