Manchester United’s first team may be having a bad season, but things have not been much better for their youth team.

They were knocked out of the UEFA Youth League at the Group Stage and were also dumped out of the FA Youth Cup in the fifth round by Huddersfield Town.

But one player who has been a shining light all season has been Belgian youngster Andreas Pereira.

The 18-year-old midfielder arrived at United in 2012 from PSV Eindhoven and is described as a player who is ‘very comfortable in possession’ and ‘an excellent set-piece taker’.

This season he has made his way into Warren Joyce’s under-21 team and is surely hoping to follow in the footsteps of his good friend and team-mate Adnan Januzaj.

Like Januzaj the Belgian has split national allegiances (Pereira is also eligible to play for Brazil) and is hotly tipped to make a name for himself in the game.

And when speaking to Inside United magazine recently he admitted that the progression of Januzaj is something that spurs him on.
